7 Deadly Sins
About the Piece:
The work is roughly 10 minutes scored for solo tenor trombone and piano. The piece takes one; simple motif in C minor and mold it into seven different short movements representing each of the 7 Deadly Sins. Each mini section contains its own styles, such as a waltz movement, a brief fanfare, and more. The sins are in the order: Sloth, Greed, Gluttony, Lust, Envy, Wrath, and Pride. In terms of difficulty, I aimed to make the piece advanced and challenging while still being approachable to university-level music students. Runtime: 09:31.
Purchase Includes: parts and full score (.pdf), MIDI rendered recording (.wav).
About the Consortium:
The premiere was given in the Spring of 2023 by Lead Commissioner Caleb Owenby
Other Members: Nicholas Dauerer, Ben McIlwain, Nick Laufer, Joseph Dunn, John Michael Graves, Jonathan Henneveld, Joshua Mize, and Thomas Ly
